I LOVE stud earrings and I wear them every day. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Whenever I sit down and design earrings, I always work with small, organic shapes--flowers, leaves, circles, domes. I didn't plan for all of my earrings to be petite posts, but a friend recently pointed out that I didn't have any dangling or larger statement earrings in my collection, and she's totally right.
A couple of days after that conversation, the subject of stud earrings came up again. My yoga teacher noticed the Kapoor earrings I was wearing and asked if I'd read Kim France's recent blog post about her own love of stud earrings (I hadn't). But, I read it the second I got home and I learned that Kim and I have something in common: We both have stretched piercings.
As the first customer for my jewelry, especially my earrings, I'm always looking for pieces that are versatile, interesting, timeless, and light weight. That's because earrings that dangle, hang, or pull on my ears are uncomfortable and unflattering on me. Earrings are my go-to jewelry for every occasion, even a yoga class: And, I want them to look beautiful on my ears and I need them to feel really good. If I wear earrings that don't look good on my slightly battered lobes or (much worse) that are painful, I don't feel good. And feeling good is super important to me.
Suffering for fashion isn't my thing. I'm a happier--and better!--person when I wear jewelry that feels great and looks great, too.
